Why should you hire Lydia?

There are many reasons why a child might benefit from having a primary school tutor in Edinburgh.

Obvious reasons:

  • The teacher has made comments about the child needing some extra support
  • The parents can see that the child is finding areas of learning challenging
  • The child asks for private tutoring (not common but does happen!)

More abstract reasons:

  • The child is showing negative feelings towards a particular subject/homework/school or classes in general (children do not hate learning, they hate that which is inaccessible to them – take a child who ‘hates’ maths – spend some focussed time with this child building their confidence and watch how they suddenly love maths!)
  • The child lacks confidence and second guesses themselves

The formative years are vital. Children are like sponges and what they are exposed to/their experience of education in these early years forms the foundations for how they will continue throughout their lives. It is therefore imperative that children engage with tutors or teachers who have studied and understands academic and socioemotional child development.

It is critical to understand that anyone can teach learning content, but not everyone can instill enthusiasm for learning in a child. At LS Tuition, this is exactly what we do as a tutor. We understand that sometimes, the reason for your child needing an Edinburgh tutor, may lie not in their misunderstanding of content but rather their attitude towards learning. We are here to motivate and inspire you children to be the best version of themselves and carry this with them throughout their lives.

Online Maths and English Tutoring For Children

All online tutoring takes place in the LS Tuition Virtual Classroom. The classroom recreates real-life conditions. Both students and tutors can see and hear each other whilst both having access to the same interactive workspace.

Key features include:

  • Both student and teacher have access to the same documents so they can collaborate in real time by reading together or working through Maths problems.

  • The ‘pointer’ feature acts like a human finger, directing the student’s attention to specific parts of a resource.

  • All manner of resources (videos, PowerPoints etc.) can be quickly uploaded, so lessons are varied and engaging. Pace is particularly crucial for young learners.

  • A range of accessible classroom tools (pens, shapes, rulers, erasers etc.) allow the student and teacher to write and draw on the screen.

  • The virtual classroom is extremely user-friendly and allows for high-quality online tutoring and learning.

  • How do I book a Primary School lesson?

  • At LS Tuition we have an online booking system, where you can select a convenient time for your child’s tutoring session. You have total control over the booking where you can amend lessons, contact Lydia and cancel all in your own LS Tuition account.

"Lydia has supported both my children massively. Lydia helped with my son's transition back to school post-pandemic and really helped rebuild his confidence in his ability. Also when my little one started school she was struggling with her focus due to missing so much nursery. Lydia has not only helped her but assured me everything we are experiencing is not a cause for concern, which is a massive relief. Having Lydia's support has been invaluable and I cannot fault our experience and highly recommend to anyone with primary-age children."
Lisa
"My daughter was struggling with maths and can be very shy with new people so I wanted to make sure I found the right tutor. Lydia instantly made her feel at ease and got to know her and find out where she was with her maths knowledge so they could set a plan. I'm really pleased with the progress she had made so far, I can see my daughter's confidence growing with each lesson. We couldn't be happier with Lydia and would recommend her in a heartbeat."
Becky
"Our two girls, aged 11 and 9 spent a month working with Lydia this year for a few hours each day. Lydia's immensely warm and enthusiasitc personality meant they took no time to settle in with her and were keen to start every day with her. The teaching was clearly engaging; well structured and thoughtful, with tailored learning for each of the girls (and a great classroom environment she has created). She motivated them both; re-engaged them with maths and we're pleased to be continuing to work with Lydia each week to keep the momentum going. Thank you so much."
Michelle
"We approached Lydia at LS Tuition to help our son improve his literacy and numeracy after lockdowns, he was also struggling with his resilience. Lydia assessed him and was absolutely spot on with her assessment. She knew exactly what he needed to focus on and explained her approach making sure his learning was in-line with his school learning. He really enjoys his sessions and looks forward to them, Lydia is warm, friendly and very patient with him. From a parental point of view, Lydia is professional and always provides feedback at the end of each session. Thank you Lydia."
Sarah
Lydia was an absolutely first-class teacher! She successfully guided my son Lucas (P5) through English and maths with lots of patience. My son is now very confident with maths and ready for P6. I would definitely recommend.

"Lydia at LS Tuition has been working with my two daughters, to help with loss of learning and loss of confidence from schooling disruptions. Lydia is so well organised, the virtual classroom set up is excellent and she takes time at the start of every lesson to chat to the girls and build rapport. I feel relieved that my daughters are getting this extra support and I can see their confidence growing, particularly in maths. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Lydia."
Claire
"I am so glad we found Lydia! She is an incredible tutor. Professional, patient and kind, but most of all, encouraging and fun. My children really enjoy their sessions and are making great progress. Lydia's child led, tailored approach ensures the kids are involved with and empowered by their learning. I can see definite shifts in their ability, largely brought on by the confidence that Lydia has instilled in them. The communication before and after the lessons is fist class and it's clear to see the amount of time Lydia devotes to each child to plan their sessions. Thank you Lydia!"
Danielle
"My son has been working with Lydia for the past few months and I can already see a change in his abilities. I saw an improvement within the first few classes. Lydia is also great at keeping us updated on his progress at the end of the class which I find refreshing as its very thorough. The homework is great and it keeps my sons mind occupied. He confidence is growing and it makes us as parents very happy."

"Lydia has worked with my two sons for a year now and she is just fantastic. All lessons are tailored to suit their individual needs with both boys responding very positively to Lydia. She is very personable with the boys and always identifies their strengths and weaknesses ensuring her lessons take these into account. The feedback Lydia provides after each lesson is exceptional. Lydia is a very professional teacher who has a passion for teaching and getting the very best out of her students. I would highly recommend Lydia."
Sadia
"Lydia has been a fantastic tutor for our 5 year daughter who had anxiety with her Maths and English after the lockdown. It affected her confidence in the classroom. Lydia assessed our daughter's learning challenges and provided a personalised structured schedule of topics to follow. Lydia and our daughter clicked instantly, she had taken to her gentleness, encouragment, patience and reassuring demeanour. In a matter of weeks our daughter moved up her reading level stage at school. With Lydia's professional, well-prepared teaching strategies her anxieties became less obvious and she is now much more confident and happier in class. Lydia is a wonderful teacher who guides your child to flourish and achieve their full potential."
Lauren
"My son has had 4 lessons with Lydia now and we can already see a difference in his knowledge and his attitude towards learning. Lydia has been patient and engaging."
Lisa
"My 6 year old daughter was having some difficulties in school, I had chose Lydia and my only regret is not doing it sooner! She is a fantastic teacher, so friendly and encouraging with my daughter. Her confidence and abilities have came on so much in only a few lessons with Lydia. Would highly recommend Lydia if you are looking for a tutor."

"I cannot be more satisfied about the huge help I received. Worked with Lydia to boost the confidence of my son -and not just his knowledge- was a pleasure. I cannot thank her enough for the work she done with my 10 years old for his 11+. He made huge progress under Lydia's guide, she takes the time not only to teach him English and Maths in the best way possible but also give him time to explore his emotions. Edoardo felt extremely confident and safe with her. On top of this she is super enthusiastic during the lessons and absolutely reliable in terms of organisation and schedule (that, for me, is a plus value with a huge relevance). She always went the extra mile for him, sending him messages to encorage him before the exam. You cannot really find anyone better for your child, I promise! As Edo would say "She is the best teacher in the world!".
