Lydia's Story
From a young age, Lydia knew she was called to work with people – especially children. After beginning her studies in psychology, she realised her true passion lay in education. She went on to study Early Years Education and graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a First-Class Honours degree in Primary Education, determined to become the kind of teacher she had once needed herself.
While Lydia experienced many positive moments at school, she also understood what it felt like to go unseen. That experience shaped her belief that children thrive when they feel safe, understood, and genuinely known – not simply assessed.
As she entered the classroom, Lydia saw dedicated teachers working tirelessly within a system that often left little room for the relational, responsive teaching children need most. Despite careful planning and professional commitment, she found herself – like many educators – longing for an approach that allowed greater depth, flexibility, and meaningful connection.
That shift began around her mum’s dining room table, where Lydia started tutoring. In that space, she rediscovered the heart of education: clear structure, thoughtful progression, and the powerful impact of helping a child rebuild belief in themselves.
What began as one tutor with a vision has grown into a carefully considered learning community. Today, LS Tuition supports children from Early Years to S2, guided by structured Literacy and Numeracy progressions developed in alignment with both the Curriculum for Excellence and the National Curriculum for England.
At its core, LS Tuition exists to help children access excellence – not by pressure or performance alone, but by creating the conditions in which confidence, resilience, and genuine understanding can grow.
We work in partnership with families to ensure every child feels safe, seen, and capable – because education should shape not only what children achieve, but how they see themselves as learners.
And this is only the beginning.
